Our courses meet OSHA requirements. However, it's important to understand that no course can technically be "OSHA compliant" since OSHA never reviews or approves individual courses. Any provider claiming their courses are "OSHA compliant" is being misleading. Our training fulfills what OSHA requires for workplace safety.

Choosing the Right Course

Everyone uses standards from ILCOR (International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation), commonly called "AHA Standards." The real question is whether your certification needs the AHA logo on it. We offer AHA-branded courses for medical professionals who need the AHA name, and non-AHA courses using the same standards for everyone else. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll help you decide.
Fire, police, and emergency personnel typically need a Basic Life Support (BLS) course. We recommend checking with your employer or licensing authority for their specific requirements, then contact us to find the right class.
Our Standard CPR/AED/First Aid course meets regulatory requirements for childcare workers in all 50 states. It's available in both blended (hybrid) and full classroom formats, so you can choose the option that best fits your schedule.
Our hybrid courses are perfect for you. They feature an online component you can complete at your own pace, plus a required hands-on skill session with an instructor. The certification you receive is identical to what you'd get from a full live classroom course. It will not indicate that it was completed online, since an instructor must still evaluate your skills in person.

CPR Knowledge

  1. Check responsiveness and call for help
  2. Assess breathing, movement, and pulse
  3. Begin chest compressions if needed
  4. Perform rescue breaths (or continuous compressions for Hands-Only CPR)
  5. Continue until help arrives or an AED is available
Hands-Only CPR is a simplified method that doesn't use rescue breaths. It involves just two steps: (1) Call 911, and (2) Push hard and fast in the center of the chest at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. A helpful tip: the beat of the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" matches this tempo perfectly.
The main difference is compression depth. Adult compressions should be approximately 2 inches deep at a rate of 100-120 per minute. Infant compressions should be approximately 1.5 inches deep at the same rate. Both follow the same basic principles, but the technique is adjusted for the patient's size.
Yes! Chest compressions and rescue breaths will not harm a pacemaker. AEDs are designed to recognize pacemakers and respond appropriately. If a pacemaker has stopped functioning, follow standard CPR protocol and seek medical help immediately.
There is no mandated minimum age. The ability to perform CPR depends more on physical strength and maturity than age alone. Studies have shown that children as young as 13 can learn and effectively retain CPR skills.
