Going to Northern Tier, Summit Bechtel Reserve, Philmont Scout Ranch, or Sea Base? Our WFA / CPR / AED course is perfect for you !
This class is taught to both Scouters and Non- Scouters who want to learn first aid before any high adventure trip.
Cost is $150 per student. Wilderness First Aid training provides the next level training needed to safely conduct any high adventure back country activity where EMS is not available. Participants will learn how to assess, treat, and contain emergencies within the scope of their training.
Super important note: EVERY student MUST have their own email... Including when paying for the course. Certificates, online course, eBooks are all sent and accessed through the students unique email.
If parents are setting this up for their child, they might have to create an email (one that their child never uses).
We apologize for this inconvenience but all CPR / First Aid programs use electronic certifications, card, books, courses etc, and there is no other way to issue certifications.

What age must students be? The Scouts website says "Youth (14 years old and up) and adult Scout leaders are encouraged to take a 16-hour WFA course" This does not place a rule on the age of students. The requirements for any class is that the student can understand the material, perform the skills on a manikin or simulated casualty, and pass a written test. We have had 12 year old students pass this course.
Will our certifications be accepted? The scouts allow Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) instructors to teach WFA - click here. Big Texas CPR LLC is an ECSI training Center. Click here and use 77378 zip to find us listed as such.
In a live class, students will receive a Wilderness First Aid Field guide, a Keychain CPR Mask, a compass-whistle, a signaling mirror, certification for WFA, Adult CPR, Child CPR, Infant CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed. PLUS: All students get the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to help others in a Wilderness First Aid emergency.
BSA Wilderness First Aid is required for all high adventure camps.
We offer this as a Hybrid Course. Click here.
